Elders

Ken Smith
Ken, a native Texan born in San Angelo, graduated with a Music Degree from Whitworth College in Spokane Washington. Upon graduation, Ken became worship minister at Church of the Rock of Ages in Spokane, where he served from 1979-1990. During that time he met and married Christina, and today they have four wonderful children. Seeking further insight and training in pastoral ministry, Ken returned to Texas where he worked on his Master’s Degree. In 1998, sensing God’s direction, Ken took the position of worship pastor at Grace Fellowship. When Grace Fellowship went through a transition in 2003, so did Ken’s heart. He felt an increasing burden for the pulpit ministry. He continues to lead worship, but transitioned into his main role of Teaching Elder in the spring of 2004.

Phil Smith
Phil grew up in Daly City and came north to attend Sonoma State University in 1990. He became an active member and leader in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and upon graduation felt called to serve college students. Phil went on staff with IVCF in 1992. Phil married Lisa in July 1997, and together they worked at SSU and SRJC with IVCF for the next five years. They started attending Grace Fellowship in 2001, and in 2007 Phil felt called to become one of the elder/pastors. Lisa is currently leading the women’s ministry program at Grace. They have three young boys who keep their life adventurous. Phil is also a special education teacher at a local non-public school.
