The Children of Israel celebrated their deliverance from Egypt once per month. Every new moon, they celebrated their freedom from slavery. God wanted them to remember twelve times a year from what they had been set free!
Similarly, God wants OUR focus on how much He’s done for us. He wants us to regularly celebrate “the quarry from which you were dug.” (Isaiah 51:1) Focused Gratitude for the magnitude of Jesus’ Deliverance keeps us aligned with Heaven. Such celebration actually transforms our thinking.
You see, this is what God wanted for the children of Israel: transformation from a slavery mindset to a conquering mindset. But when He tested them to see if the transformation had “taken hold,” they failed the test.
Thankfully, their mistake is OUR instruction! If we stay Grateful for what our Father has already done, we are transformed from slaves to conquerors! His aim is not so low as just our rescue. He aims to transform us from slavery to royalty!
He did this for Jacob. Jacob became Israel! His new name, Israel, means: “Prince with God.” He transformed from Trickster to Prince! It was a mindset shift. As Jacob, he manipulated circumstances to obtain his prophetic destiny, as though God needed a little help. But when Jacob allowed God to rule him, he became a Prince, or Ruler with God. He had authority to rule.
Jesus exercised authority because He was a Man under His Father’s authority! (Matt.8:9)
This is true for us as well. The more we humble our SELF under God’s authority, the more spiritual authority we’ll have to “reign in life.” (Rom.5:17)
