Heb 4:14-16 NASU Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
You are not alone. You are not a weak person. You may be going through a season of stress that exposes your lack of strength. You may feel like quitting, and feel guilty about feeling that way. You may feel like running away and hiding… Don’t!
Jesus can sympathize like no other. He does not want you to feel alone. He FEELS the turmoil that engulfs you. He grieves with you over your loss. He does not spurn you now in your weakness. He does not think less of you now that you are struggling. Quite the opposite! He draws NEAR to you today. His great heart understands!
He is not condescending or patronizing, looking down on you. He REALLY understands your heart and emotional pain!
And He knows you don’t just want sympathy. He sees how you want to face the flaws in your own heart. He senses your desire for “truth in you inward parts.” But He also knows that sometimes you just need some strength; before you can face those flaws.
In those times, the throne room door is open; and, His ARMS are open – the way being paid by His own Blood! He knows you need the strength that flows from His tender sympathy and understanding. Won’t you open your weary heart to the “Shepherd of your soul?” Let His arms surround you. Pause. Feel His breath lifting the force of death off your spirit, infusing you with LIFE!
Drink deeply. Breathe deeply. He is so close to you now!
