Points to Remember

Yes, it’s been a while since there was any blog activity, but remember: Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost! So, does “that” include the Grace Fellowship Blog? I would like to think so. We may abandon our own creations and leave them to rot and die, but Jesus always loves us and cares for us; we are always on His mind!

With that being said, we’re still trying to figure out exactly what kind of things to post here. It started out as a platform to post long essays and thoughts about God, but that soon grew old, especially with busy schedules and increased outreach and small group activity in the church itself. So, then I thought it’d be a good place to post church announcements, but nobody’s officially in charge of that as far as the web site is concerned, and Diane Luman made it clear that she has far too much on her plate to post things herself. (We love you, Diane, by the way!) I’ll still do it when I can, but it won’t be regularly.

However, I’ve come up with another idea that I think will work very well. When there’s nothing else to say, just quote the Bible!! I’m going to begin posting a “Verse of the Week” series with one or two verses, possibly a paragraph, from the Bible every week and perhaps share a little bit of commentary along with it. So, following this post will be the first official “Verse of the Week” posting. Enjoy God’s Word!

Of course, church announcements are also welcome as well; they don’t have to cease. Here are two I remember from yesterday’s announcements on Sunday:

  • Now that the Women’s Retreat is over, the Women of Grace Book Club is starting up again. They’ll be studying and discussing the book “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller. For more information contact Lisa Smith: lpsmith97-AT-earthlink.net (replace -AT- with @).
  • This week is National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child, run by Samaritan’s Purse. Every Christmas they give shoeboxs filled with gifts to needy children all over the world. Toys, candy, school supplies, and other delights are welcome. Samaritan’s Purse’s web site has more information if you would like to pack a shoebox this year. Shoeboxes are beginning to collect in the church foyer, and next Sunday you can drop yours off!

Blessings and peace be with you this week!
